A little about me

I come from a creative background ~ I started off making costumes for theatre, then completed a Painting BA and had a studio in Old Street for ten years, before walking a path through NHS hospital operating theatres for another decade - a very fast, busy place where one feels to ‘meet everything’! I am also a family carer.

This led me to want to create smaller, quieter spaces for over-busy Londoners, to come and take proper rest in; to find some space and time for themselves. I’m really trying to keep it simple and real - even if this sometimes feels like the hardest thing to do in our time.

I enjoy this therapy work so much - it’s the only thing that equals my joy for painting.
I always imagine the Art Being and Therapy Being standing side - by side.
Yes, there they are, smiling.
Me too.

About Reflexology ~

Reflexology is based on the approach that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all organs and systems of the body. It has its roots in Egyptian, Chinese and also Indian cultures going back 4000 years.
The sessions themselves are incredibly relaxing and grounding. Hands are placed upon your feet, warming them up first, before ‘walking’ through the many zones and reflexes in a more intentional way using thumb and fingers. This touch can feel firmer and sometimes tender depending on what is found, or where needs more work.

Reflexology can help to calm the nervous system, alleviate stress and tension, improve mood and sleep quality, balance hormones and boost energy, amongst many other benefits. Reflexology can be booked as a standalone session ‘to just relax’, or as a package of sessions to focus on specific conditions, or for ongoing health support. Many clients request to combine it with other massage therapies as part of a longer 90 or 120 minute session, so I have included this in my treatment options. If you are booking a package for weekly or fortnightly sessions for specific health focuses, the initial appointment should be 75 minutes, after which we can make a little plan together.

About Holistic Massage Therapy ~

Based upon traditional massage techniques, a holistic massage is adapted to suit the needs of your ‘whole self; integrating your individual physical, mental and emotional aspects and current mood of soul. Some people require a more dynamic, reinvigorating massage, others need a quieter, softer touch to rebalance frayed energies. Most treatments are a combination of these; a little strength and a little gentleness.

I am always flexible and happy to adapt. Whilst some clients come in and simply ask for a 90 minute holistic massage, others are very specific about what they want in that time (ie, “scalp, then abdomen, then reflexology”). Some people are wishing to come back to themselves after illness or medicalisation, some to receive care after caring for others, others as a treat. It’s your time and your massage.

If you haven’t had a massage before, please do come! I am professional, yet relaxed and you will be made to feel very comfortable. You will always be covered and discreetly draped and you can choose to have a little music or no music… or even your own (which I love!). The best thing is that you don’t need to make small talk, you can completely switch off. I am quiet during treatments as I work intuitively and like to ‘think with my hands’.

I use natural & organic oils and salves where I can; either plain or with pre-blended aromatic massage oils by Neal’s Yard Remedies, Weleda or similiar. I am not an aromatherapist (yet :) but I will offer this one day too.
