Pregnancy Reflexology
I hold advanced qualifications in Pregnancy and Postnatal Reflexology and am able to provide reflexology sessions to support women and their babies throughout this period, tailoring each session to their needs.
Many women find reflexology during pregnancy incredibly calming and helpful to alleviate the stress and exhaustion of pregnancy. Physical symptoms may include morning sickness & heartburn, constipation, pelvic girdle & lower back pain, lymphatic fluid build up, digestive issues. Studies have show it helps to reduce pain and labour time during the first stage.
Reflexology sessions are a comforting time for women to experience rest and quiet time before the coming period of motherhood.
How often should I have maternity reflexology? What duration of treatment?
13 - 37 weeks: pregnancy
For straightforward pregnancies, once a month is a good frequency.
For more complicated symptoms, more often may help.
37+ weeks: ‘preparing for labour’
It is best to have one session per week, to prepare your body and help baby to come into the world. If you are overdue, a reflexology treatment can be very helpful to encourage labour, right up to the final stages towards birth.
Duration:
A 60 minute session is fine, however an expended lymphatic drainage reflexology sequence can be added if you have fluid retention, so please book 75 minutes (or 90 minutes if preferred) if you would like this.
Postnatal Reflexology
The postnatal period is very important for women and their new baby. The transition into motherhood is wonderful and yet can also be quite overwhelming and some support may be welcomed here to bring mummy back to her body and to find some rest.
Reflexology can be given with baby resting on her chest, whilst feeding, rocking, surrounded by mess and nappies :) Home visits may be available for this period until therapy room attendance is possible. Please contact me to arrange, a small callout fee will be added.
Treatments are safe as soon as you are ready and have been discharged by your specialist.
